A good-looking local cop is soon sifting through suspects. Manning is pretty much insufferable, especially as Craft packs the book with an improbable number of handsome men. And though the "hidden in plain sight" ending trick is an old and trusty mystery gambit, it requires more narrative skill than this author manages to summon.

The series just keeps getting better....

This is my favorite book of the series. Michael Craft is definitely improving as a writer. This story is much more developed that the previous ones and I enjoyed the move to a new local. But... as much as I enjoyed it, I agree with everything in Drew Brainard's review below. With the exception of Manning, the characters lack depth. I too would love to get inside Neil's head - learn what makes him tick.
Minor criticisms aside, I too had a hard time putting this one down and can't wait till the next in the series. Great mystery - buy it!

A wonderful mystery and family drama

Chicago journalist Mark Manning has many reasons to be the happiest person alive. His relationship with his spouse Neil Waite has solidified, turning them into a blissful couple. He is wealthy enough to maintain his current lifestyle for the rest of his life and Neil,s architectural expertise has them living in a near perfect home. Still, Mark feels despondent after reporting the story of the century.

Mark seeks a new Everest to climb and thinks he found it in Durmont, Wisconsin, the home of his cousins, the Quatrains. He purchases their former home and the local newspaper, and settles into life in the small town. He meets Suzanne Quatrain, her retarded brother Joey, and her son Thad. However, someone murders Suzanne, leaving Mark as the prime suspect because he suspiciously inherits a large chunk of cash. The intrepid reporter begins an investigation to clear his name.

BODY LANGUAGE carries less of the emotional tome normally included in a Mark Manning novel because the protagonist and his partner seem more durable and loving than the turmoil of the previous books. The truth behind the well-designed mystery surfaces diabolically but cleverly slow as readers are unable to stop reading until Michael Craft reveals whom the culprit is. Adding to the fun is a twist that alters the Manning-Waite relationship and making the audience want more crafty tales from this stupendous writer.

Who really did it? It wan't Me!!

This one so far is my favorite. The suspence of getting to the next page was killing me along with the first murdered victim in this well written episode. I thought the writers attempt to rope us into the pages making us walk along side the lead character was a success. At times I felt the blood on my hands. It wasn't me! The characters chosen all had a reason to be a bit guilty of this crime the way he threw hints of hatered and unstable personalities our way. At the moment when you thought you had it solved there was a twist that dragged you into another direction. Brilliant writing I say, just brilliant. He did it, NO, she did it. Well, maybe she did it. Or perhaps he did do it. Nah! I am certain she did it. Who really did do it will be your thoughts all the way through this story until you reach the chapter where everybody sees proof of who did do it only to discover that that person didn't really do it, but the other being you had your eye on who turned out to be the killer was not actually the one you thought it to be at all. Make sence. You will when you read it. And read it you must. I loved it! On to the next.

This cookbook is the best book on regional Texas cooking that I have ever read. The recipes are clear and informative, spanning Mexican, German, and Southern dishes. The work is made all the more interesting by its insights into Texan life and culture.

Fabulous Classic Texas and Tex-Mex Recipes

I absolutely love this book! Over the last ten years, it has become a staple in my kitchen and the kitchens of friends who I have blessed with a copy. I am not a very talented cook, but I find these recipes easy to follow and virtually fail proof. My husband, a fabulous cook, also loves cooking with recipes from Cooking Texas Style. The book is filled with great unheard of recipes as well as Texas and Tex-Mex classics. In addition to the recipes, the personal notes that Ms. Marquez and Ms. Wagner have included are a thrill to read. There is information about the origin of some of the dishes as well as great family stories. I highly recommend this book to the novice or master chef! Enjoy!

About the Author
Andrew Prentice is Professor of International Nutrition at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He leads the Medical Research Council's International Nutrition Group which is based in London and The Gambia. His research interests have encompassed human energy metabolism and obesity as well as maternal and child nutrition in developing
countries.

Dr. Caballero is Professor of International Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Professor of Pediatrics at the School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University. He has over 20 years of experience as a scholar, researcher and leader in the area of child health and nutrition. He obtained his MD from the University of Buenos Aires and his PhD (in neuroendocrine regulation) from MIT. He started his faculty career at Harvard Medical School, and moved to Johns Hopkins in 1990 to found the Center for Human Nutrition.

Dr. Caballero is a recognized expert on the nutritional needs of children and adults, and on nutrient requirements in undernourished populations. For the past 10 years, he has focused on the problem of childhood obesity in the US and in developing countries, and explored the impact of dietary transition and globalization on health indicators. He is an active participant in key scientific committees advising the US government on issues of diet and health, including the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) Committee, the Expert Panel on Macronutrient Requirements, and the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences. He was a member of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans Advisory Committee, and is currently a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and of the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI).

Dr. Caballero is an active leader in the area of global health, specifically on diet, lifestyle and disease risk. He is Chairman of the Board of the Pan American Health and Education Foundation, in Washington, D.C., and member of the Board of Directors of the International Nutrition Foundation, in Boston, MA. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Centers of Excellence Network of the Global Health Initiative, National Institutes of Health. Recent awards include the Ancel Keys Prize for achievements in international public health and the Thompson-Beaudette Lectureship from Rutgers University. In 2011 he was named to the Spanish Academy of Nutritional Sciences.

Dr. Caballero is the author of over 150 scientific publications. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Encyclopedia of Food Sciences and Nutrition, a 10-volume work on food production, consumption and biological effects. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Encyclopedia of Human Nutrition, which received the Book of the Year Award from the British Medical Association. His Guide to Dietary Supplements summarizes the current scientific basis for the use of mineral and vitamin supplements. His book The Nutrition Transition: Diet and Disease in the Developing World explored the impact of demographic and economic development on diet- and lifestyle-related diseases in developing countries. His book Obesity in China summarizes research conducted in rural and urban China to track the impact of socioeconomic development on health outcomes. He is also co-editor of the most widely used textbook in human nutrition, Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease.

About the Author
Dr. Besharse is currently The Marvin Wagner Professor and Chair of the Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He received his BA degree from Hendrix College (Conway, Arkansas) and MA and PhD degrees from Southern Illinois University. After a brief period on the faculty at Old Dominion University in Virginia, he moved to Columbia University as a post-doctoral fellow in retinal research. He was appointed to the faculty of Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at Emory University School of Medicine in 1977, becoming full professor in 1984. He assumed the position of Professor and Chair of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University Kansas School of Medicine (Kansas City) in 1989 and moved on to his present position at Medical College of Wisconsin in 1997. Dr. Besharse’s research has focused on membrane turnover, circadian clocks, and microtubule-based transport in photoreceptors with special attention to fundamental pathways that are disrupted in photoreceptor degenerative diseases. His research has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1978. In addition to his roles as Department Chair and a principal investigator, he directs an NIH funded training program in Vision Science. Dr. Besharse is a past member of the editorial boards of Investigative Ophthalmology and Vision Science and Vision Neuroscience and served as the Retina Section Editor of Experimental Eye Research. He has served as a Trustee of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and has served two full terms as a member of two different NIH study sections. Among his awards are the Alcon Research Award for outstanding research in Vision Science (1993), the Alumni Achievement Award from Southern Illinois University (1998) and the Distinguished Service Award from the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (2005). He is a Gold Fellow of ARVO.

In addition to his role as Senior Scientist and Co-Director at the Schepens Eye Research Institute, Dr. Reza Dana holds the Claes H. Dohlman Chair in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. He is Director of the Cornea & Refractive Surgery Service at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear, and serves as the Vice Chairman of the Harvard Department of Ophthalmology and Associate Chief of Ophthalmology for Academic Programs at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire, he completed his bachelor’s (Phi Beta Kappa), graduate, and medical education at Johns Hopkins University. He performed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, followed by a clinical fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Reza then completed additional fellowship training in Immunology and Uveitis at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and in Ocular and Transplantation Immunology at the Schepens Eye Research Institute. Dr. Dana also holds a Master of Science degree in Management from Harvard University. Reza has been a member of the full-time Harvard faculty since 1995. As a clinician-scientist, he has a particular interest in the molecular and cellular mechanisms of inflammation as they pertain to the ocular surface and anterior segment pathologies, including dry eye, allergy, wound healing responses, and transplant rejection.

Johnson Research Scholar, and Senior Scientist, Schepens Eye Research Institute; Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA. At the Schepens Eye Research Institute Dr. Dartt served as the Acting Director of Research and the Director of Scientific Affairs for ten years. She received her AB degree from Barnard College (Columbia University) in New York City and her PhD from the Department of Physiology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Dr. Dartt joined the Schepens Eye Research Institute in 1985. Her primary research interest is the neural regulation of tear production. Her research focuses on the signaling pathways used by nerves and growth factors in the lacrimal gland and conjunctival goblet cells to induce secretion and proliferation and how dysregulation of these pathways can lead to dry eye syndromes in mouse models and humans, particularly after refractive surgery. She has been continuously funded by NIH since 1980 for this work. Dr. Dartt directs the Institute’s Department of Defense Research Program and chaired four Military Vision Research Symposia. She served on and chaired the ARVO Cornea Program Planning Committee and served on the Members in Training Committee. She was a founding member, a member of the organizing committee, and more recently Treasurer for the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society. She has been on the organizing committee for the three Biennial Cornea Conferences in Boston, MA. She served as Vice-President for North America for the International Society for Eye Research and a Councilor for the International Society for Contact Lens Wear. She is on the Editorial Board for Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Experimental Eye Research, and The Ocular Surface. She served on the Review Panel for Fight For Sight and has been an Ad Hoc member of numerous NEI and NIAMS study sections. She received the Lew R. Wasserman Merit Award by Research to Prevent Blindness and is a Gold Fellow of ARVO.

About the Author
Ulf Lindgren founded the Nordic Management Group in the 1980s. After that, he became the Director and Board member of Bain & Company International Inc., and was the Founder and Managing Partner for Bain & Company Nordic. He was actively involved and played a role in the foundation of Bain Capital Europe in the late '90s and was the Founder and Executive Chairman of Net Insight AB and also co-founded and was a Director of BTS Group. He remained a Senior Advisor to a small number of private equity firms and served as senior advisor and Board member of several large global corporations through his London based advisory company, Nordic Advisors Limited. He was involved in the establishment of Endeavor Inc., USA (a not-for-profit supporter of high-impact entrepreneurship). Ulf Lindgren has been Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at INSEAD, a Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship and the Dean and Executive Director of Lorange Institute of Business in Zurich.
Ulf Lindgren passed away in June 2012 and was up until that time the Director and principal investor in Safe Technologies Limited, UK. Besides that he was Assistant Professor of International Business and Finance, Stockholm School of Economics, and a Visiting Lecturer at IMD, and at the Swedish Institute Management.

About the Author
Lester R. Kurtz has served as Chair of the Peace Studies Association and of the Peace and War Section of the American Sociological Association. He is a Danforth Fellow and recipient of the Fulbright Research Fellowship, National Science Foundation Grant (Republic of China), American Institute of Indian Studies Fellowship, and the Indo-U.S. Subcommission Fellowship. He is a professor of sociology and Asian studies at the University of Texas at Austin and has been a visiting professor at the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Tunghai University, and the University of Delhi. He holds a Ph.D in sociology from the University of Chicago and an M.A.R. in religion from Yale University. He has written widely on peace and conflict, world religions, Ghandi, nonviolence, and the arms race, and has lectured in Europe, Asia, and North America.
